FOI COUNSEL has requested for information on COVD19 vaccine financing from National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHDA). The letter dated 8th February 2021 but received by the agency on 10th day of February 2021. The information sought include the partnership agreement with African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team (AVATT), vaccine pre order budget, advance procurement guarantees, the international financial support for the vaccines procurement and minute of meetings for payment approval. The agency has 14 days to respond to the request and the group has 30 days to review the decision or indecision on the request as the case may be
According to President Aigbokhan, Esq of FOI Counsel “in as much as Nigerians and global community are excited about the COVID19 vaccines, our focus is on financing as a major component of the vaccines procurement. While Civil society groups in health interventions check the quality and equality in the vaccination, groups working around transparency must monitor the procurement process and use available tools to get the information needed for such monitoring and review.
